The size range has to be readable in a basket
Socks are almost always merchandised loose in a bin or stacked on a shelf, and the customer is looking for their size. Whatever the band or label looks like, the size has to be findable from the top or the front of a folded pair, at a glance, from arm's length. Fix that position across the whole range before designing.
The mistake that costs a print run
A band that only works on one folding method
Rolled, folded flat and cuffed pairs all make different shapes and different thicknesses. A band sized to one will slip off or split on another. Decide how packing will actually fold them, on the thickest yarn in the range, and size the band to that with a little tolerance.
How you actually make it
- Open the structure above and type your real dimensions. The dieline is generated at that exact size and validated against real manufacturing limits as it draws — if a size cannot be folded, glued and shipped, it says so before you design anything on it.
- Describe your brand and the AI designs the artwork directly onto that dieline — not onto a picture of a package.
- Place your own logo, barcode and any required panel yourself. The AI leaves them exactly as placed unless you ask it to change them.
- Fold it in live 3D to check it, then download print-ready files to use with any printer — or have TWOFORM manufacture it.
Questions about custom sock packaging
What size band fits a folded pair of socks?
Around 4 × 1 × 3in for a standard folded pair in a mid-weight yarn. Thick wool and cushioned styles need noticeably more, so size on the thickest product in the range.
Band, label or bag for socks?
A band shows the fabric and applies quickly; a wrap label is the lightest option; a bag protects best but hides the product. Most brands choose a band precisely because customers want to see the knit.
Where should the sock size go on the pack?
Somewhere visible when pairs are stacked or in a bin, and in the same place across the whole range. Customers hunt for size first and brand second.
