Coffee packaging design ideas
Great coffee packaging design has to do two jobs at once: protect roasted beans from oxygen and light, and earn a second look on a crowded shelf. Below are the formats we actually manufacture for coffee brands, why each one works, and the details to get right before you print.
The best formats for coffee packaging
Every format below is one we actually manufacture — click through to a live production dieline drawn by our factory engine, or start designing on it in the studio.
Coffee packaging design tips
- 1Leave room in the die for a degassing valve and a press-to-close zipper — both change the printable safe area.
- 2Reserve a clear zone for roast date and lot code; specialty buyers look for it first.
- 3Kraft-faced film reads artisanal; metallised film reads premium and protects longer — pick for your shelf, not just the vibe.
The difference: it’s a real package, not a picture of one. Every idea above lands on the true production dieline our U.S. factory cuts — your exact barcode, QR codes and legal copy placed by you and never AI-redrawn. Download the print-ready files and take them to any printer, or have the same company manufacture and ship it. Your call.
Questions, answered straight
What's the best bag for whole-bean coffee?
A side-gusset bag with a valve for everyday beans, or a flat-bottom box-pouch for a premium whole-bean line — both hold a valve and a resealable zipper and both stand on shelf.
Do coffee bags need a valve?
For freshly roasted beans, yes — a one-way degassing valve releases CO₂ without letting oxygen in. We build the valve position into the dieline so your artwork never lands on top of it.
Do my barcode and legal copy stay exact on coffee packaging?
Yes. Your barcode, QR codes and any required legal or ingredient copy are assets you place — they're never redrawn or invented by AI, so the barcode still scans and the compliance copy stays exactly as approved.
Do I have to manufacture with TWOFORM?
No. You can design coffee packaging on a real production dieline and download the print-ready files to use with any printer. Manufacturing with TWOFORM is optional — the same company can make it, but it's never required.
