Packaging for Apparel Brands
Packaging for apparel brands is mostly a shipping decision, because the product is soft, light and nearly unbreakable. Here are the formats that suit that, and where a box is genuinely worth the money.
The formats that actually fit
Every one of these is a construction TWOFORM generates a real production dieline for, at your own dimensions — not a template you have to fit your product into.
The thing that decides it
A poly mailer has no rigid face, so artwork has to survive being creased
Print on a mailer bag flexes, folds and stretches around whatever is inside it. Fine detail and small type disappear. Design bold, keep critical copy away from the seal areas, and expect the surface to be anything but flat.
The mistake this category makes
Putting everything in a box because it looks better in photos
Boxes photograph well and cost real money on every order. Use them where the unboxing is genuinely part of the product — a launch, a gift tier, a premium line — and use mailers everywhere else.
How you actually make it
- Pick the construction and type your real dimensions. The dieline is generated at that exact size and validated against real manufacturing limits as it draws — if a size cannot be folded, glued and shipped, it says so before you design anything on it.
- Describe your brand and the AI designs the artwork directly onto that dieline — not onto a picture of a box.
- Place your own logo, barcode and any required panel yourself. The AI leaves them exactly as placed unless you ask it to change them.
- Fold it in live 3D to check it, then download print-ready files to use with any printer — or have TWOFORM manufacture it, from 100 units.
Questions apparel brands ask
Poly mailer or box for clothing?
A poly mailer for most orders: lighter, cheaper to ship, and clothing does not need protection from impact. A box earns its cost when the opening moment is part of what the customer is buying.
Can I print a custom design on a poly mailer?
Yes, and it is one of the cheapest brand surfaces available. Design bold — the material creases around the contents, so fine detail and small type do not survive.
Do I need tissue paper and inserts?
Only if they do a job. Tissue protects delicate finishes and slows the opening down, which helps a premium product. On a basics line it is cost with no return.
