Packaging for Candle Makers

Packaging for candle makers has to survive shipping a heavy glass vessel and still present as a gift. Here are the formats that do both, and the structural rule most makers learn the expensive way.

The formats that actually fit

Every one of these is a construction TWOFORM generates a real production dieline for, at your own dimensions — not a template you have to fit your product into.

The thing that decides it

Glass is heavy, and folded board has a weight limit

A filled candle vessel is dense, and a carton that is fine on a shelf can burst at the glue seam in transit. If the candle ships on its own rather than inside an outer box, use a heavier board or a rigid construction — and never let the design push you to a carton so shallow that the flaps have nothing to grip.

The mistake this category makes

Forgetting the base warning entirely

Candle safety copy is required and it goes on the base, which is exactly the panel everyone forgets to design. Place it first as real type, then design the faces people actually look at.

How you actually make it

  1. Pick the construction and type your real dimensions. The dieline is generated at that exact size and validated against real manufacturing limits as it draws — if a size cannot be folded, glued and shipped, it says so before you design anything on it.
  2. Describe your brand and the AI designs the artwork directly onto that dieline — not onto a picture of a box.
  3. Place your own logo, barcode and any required panel yourself. The AI leaves them exactly as placed unless you ask it to change them.
  4. Fold it in live 3D to check it, then download print-ready files to use with any printer — or have TWOFORM manufacture it, from 100 units.

Questions candle makers ask

What box size do I need for a candle?

Measure the vessel at its widest point, add clearance for a snug fit, and generate the carton at those dimensions. A candle box that is too loose lets the glass move in transit, which is what breaks it.

Do I need a mailer box as well as a candle box?

For direct-to-consumer, yes. The printed candle carton is the gift; the corrugated mailer is what takes the abuse of the postal network. Sending a printed carton alone usually means it arrives scuffed.

Where does the candle warning label go?

On the base of the vessel, and it is not optional. Lay it out before the rest of the design so you are not squeezing required copy into whatever space is left.
