Strong essential oils migrate into board over time, which can discolour the carton from the inside and blur the scent between bars in a set. If that matters to your product, a barrier layer or a wrap is a material decision to make before you design.

Treating the ingredient list as an afterthought

Cosmetic ingredient labelling applies to soap sold with cosmetic claims, and the list is longer than makers expect. Lay it out at real size early — it very often decides the minimum panel size, and therefore the box.
