The thing that decides it

Tea is very light and very bulky

A pack sized from weight will be far too small. Loose leaf occupies a lot of volume per gram, so size from volume with slack fill included, and confirm the pouch stands or the carton closes at that real fill rather than in theory.

The mistake this category makes

Relying on the carton as the barrier

Board is not a barrier. A beautiful carton with no inner bag lets aroma out and moisture in, and the tea is flat well before the printed best-before date. The carton presents; something inside it has to protect.

How you actually make it

  1. Pick the construction and type your real dimensions. The dieline is generated at that exact size and validated against real manufacturing limits as it draws — if a size cannot be folded, glued and shipped, it says so before you design anything on it.

What size box do I need for loose leaf tea?

Size from volume, not weight — loose leaf is extremely bulky per gram. Generate the carton at your real intended dimensions and confirm it closes at full fill.

Do I need an inner bag inside a tea carton?

Almost always. Board does not provide a barrier, so a carton on its own lets aroma escape and moisture in. The inner bag protects; the carton sells.

Pouch or carton for tea?

A pouch if you want resealability and lower cost, a carton if you want a clean retail stack and a large printed surface. Many brands use a carton with a pouch or sachets inside it.
