Settle this before you design
Stick width is machine tooling, not a dial
Sticks run on multi-lane machines whose lane width is fixed tooling, so the practical widths cluster on a short list — around 17, 23, 28, 35, 40, 45 and 50mm — with lengths from about 50 to 170mm. Pick the lane your fill weight lands in and design to it. A width between two lanes is not a slightly different stick; it is a different machine.
The mistake that costs a print run
Designing the stick as though it were a flat rectangle
A filled stick is a round tube with a seam down the back and flat crimped ends. Roughly a third of the printed width disappears around the curve and another slice goes into the back seam. Anything that must be read has to live in a narrow central column, and a logo that spans the full artboard will wrap out of sight.
How you actually make it
- Open the structure above and type your real dimensions. The dieline is generated at that exact size and validated against real manufacturing limits as it draws — if a size cannot be folded, glued and shipped, it says so before you design anything on it.
- Describe your brand and the AI designs the artwork directly onto that dieline — not onto a picture of a package.
- Place your own logo, barcode and any required panel yourself. The AI leaves them exactly as placed unless you ask it to change them.
- Fold it in live 3D to check it, then download print-ready files to use with any printer — or have TWOFORM manufacture it.
Questions about custom drink mix packets
What size stick pack holds a single drink serving?
A 5 to 8 g mix typically runs at 23 × 110mm; heavier greens and meal blends move up to 35 × 130mm or 45 × 170mm. The fill weight picks the lane, and the lane sets the width.
Stick pack or sachet for a drink mix?
Stick if it pours into a bottle. Sachet if it goes into a shaker or a glass and you need the printable width for instructions and claims.
Do I need an outer carton for stick packs?
For retail, almost always — a single stick has no room for an ingredient panel or a barcode. The carton carries the compliance copy and the sticks carry the brand.
