Settle this before you design
Moisture resistance is a coating decision made before colour
Condensation forms the moment a carton leaves the case, and untreated board wicks it, softens and delaminates. The moisture-resistant coating or laminate you choose changes how the printed colours sit, so pick it before you sign off any colour, and specify anything that must match exactly as a named colour rather than a screen value.
The mistake that costs a print run
Heavy solid ink across a fold that will be creased cold
Cold board is more brittle and a dense ink film across a crease shows a white line when it folds — obvious against a dark panel. Keep the darkest solids off the fold lines, or accept a visible crack line down the corner of every carton in the case.
How you actually make it
- Open the structure above and type your real dimensions. The dieline is generated at that exact size and validated against real manufacturing limits as it draws — if a size cannot be folded, glued and shipped, it says so before you design anything on it.
- Describe your brand and the AI designs the artwork directly onto that dieline — not onto a picture of a package.
- Place your own logo, barcode and any required panel yourself. The AI leaves them exactly as placed unless you ask it to change them.

Questions about custom frozen food boxes
Does a frozen food carton need a special board?
It needs moisture protection, which is either a coated board or a laminate. Standard uncoated board absorbs condensation, loses stiffness and starts to delaminate at the corners within a few freeze-thaw cycles.
Can I use matte lamination on a freezer carton?
Yes, and it hides handling marks well. Check it against condensation, though — some matte films look cloudy when wet, which reads as a damaged pack to a shopper.
Do I still need a bag inside a frozen carton?
For anything loose or sauced, yes. The carton controls shape and carries the artwork; the inner bag controls moisture and stops freezer burn.
