Settle this before you design

Grease resistance on the inside face, decided before print

A glazed donut will mark plain board within the hour and will show through it by the end of the day. The inner face needs a grease-resistant treatment, and that treatment changes what the board looks like and how the outside prints. Settle it first — it is a materials decision, not a finishing one.

The mistake that costs a print run

Building a shallow box out of folding carton board

A 12in-wide box at 2in deep in paperboard flexes in the middle the moment it is picked up, and a full box then folds around the load. Corrugated at the same dimensions does not. If the footprint is wide and the depth is small, the material has to change; the dieline cannot fix it.

How you actually make it

  1. Open the structure above and type your real dimensions. The dieline is generated at that exact size and validated against real manufacturing limits as it draws — if a size cannot be folded, glued and shipped, it says so before you design anything on it.
  2. Describe your brand and the AI designs the artwork directly onto that dieline — not onto a picture of a package.
  3. Place your own logo, barcode and any required panel yourself. The AI leaves them exactly as placed unless you ask it to change them.
  4. Fold it in live 3D to check it, then download print-ready files to use with any printer — or have TWOFORM manufacture it.

Questions about custom donut boxes

What size box holds a dozen donuts?

A 4 × 3 layout of standard donuts is around 12 × 9in with 3in of height. Filled and topped varieties need the extra height; plain rings can go shallower.

Why does my donut box go soft?

Grease from the glaze is soaking into the board. A grease-resistant inner coating fixes it; a heavier board on its own only delays it.

Can donut boxes be printed on the inside?

Yes, and it is a good use of a surface the customer definitely sees. Check the ink is suitable for indirect food contact and that it sits on top of whatever grease barrier you have specified.
