Settle this before you design
A heavy fill decides the film thickness before design starts
Granola runs around 0.45 to 0.55 g/ml, so a two-pound bag is carrying nearly a kilo against its bottom seal every time it is set down. That pushes you to a heavier laminate and a wider seal band than a snack bag needs. Settle the fill weight first — the film specification follows from it, and the film specification changes how the finish will look.
The mistake that costs a print run
Putting the zipper too close to the top seal
On a pack people reach into with a scoop, the opening has to be wide enough to get a hand in. If the zipper sits tight under the top seal there is nothing to grip and the film tears rather than peels. Leave a proper tear strip above the zipper and check the opened width against the scoop that ships with the product.
How you actually make it
- Open the structure above and type your real dimensions. The dieline is generated at that exact size and validated against real manufacturing limits as it draws — if a size cannot be folded, glued and shipped, it says so before you design anything on it.
- Describe your brand and the AI designs the artwork directly onto that dieline — not onto a picture of a package.
- Place your own logo, barcode and any required panel yourself. The AI leaves them exactly as placed unless you ask it to change them.

Questions about custom granola bags
What bag size holds 12 oz of granola?
Roughly 6.5in wide by 9.5in tall with a bottom gusset around 3.5in, which is about 1.5 litres of usable volume. Clustered granola is bulkier than loose oats, so pour a batch and measure rather than trusting a chart.
Will a stand-up pouch hold two pounds?
It will, but a flat-bottom bag holds that weight better — the squared base spreads the load instead of concentrating it on a single bottom seal, and it stays square as the bag empties.
How do I stop clusters breaking up in transit?
Reduce the room they have to move. Size the bag close to the settled volume rather than leaving a lot of headspace, and avoid deep narrow bags where the product at the bottom carries the weight of everything above it.
