Settle this before you design

Two pounds of powder is about 2.3 litres, not two pounds of bag

Whey concentrate sits near 0.4 g/ml and plant blends are lighter still, so a two-pound fill is roughly 2.3 litres before headspace. Add a scoop's worth of room on top. That volume, plus an opening wide enough to reach into, is what sets the bag — the declared weight on the front is a poor guide to the size you need.

The mistake that costs a print run

The scoop is inside the bag and has to come out through the opening every day. If the zipper run is shorter than the scoop is wide, the customer fights the bag every morning and eventually decants it. Check the opened width against the actual scoop before the dieline is fixed.

How you actually make it

  1. Open the structure above and type your real dimensions. The dieline is generated at that exact size and validated against real manufacturing limits as it draws — if a size cannot be folded, glued and shipped, it says so before you design anything on it.
  2. Describe your brand and the AI designs the artwork directly onto that dieline — not onto a picture of a package.
  3. Place your own logo, barcode and any required panel yourself. The AI leaves them exactly as placed unless you ask it to change them.
  4. Fold it in live 3D to check it, then download print-ready files to use with any printer — or have TWOFORM manufacture it.

Questions about custom protein bags

What size bag holds 2 lb of protein powder?

Around 2.3 to 2.6 litres of usable volume — in a flat-bottom bag that is roughly 7 × 12in with a 4.5in gusset. Plant proteins are lighter than whey, so the same weight needs a bigger bag.

Why does my protein bag fall over when it is half empty?

A bottom-gusset pouch relies on the fill to hold its shape. A flat-bottom or quad-seal construction has a genuine square base and stays upright to the last serving.

Do protein bags need a moisture barrier?

Yes. Protein powders are hygroscopic and clump within days of humid exposure, so the barrier layer and the reclosure are both doing shelf-life work, not just convenience work.
