Settle this before you design
The insert holds the piece, and the piece must not move
A ring slot, a chain bar or a pad with a slit each suit a different item, and a piece that shifts inside the box will scratch itself or tangle. Design the insert around the actual piece — its widest point, its clasp, how it lies — and only then size the box. Foam and pads have real thickness and it all counts.
The mistake that costs a print run
A lid that swings open too far or not far enough
A hinged lid that flops back leaves the piece unpresented, and one that closes under its own weight forces the customer to hold it. The hinge and the magnet strength decide this and they are specified, not discovered. Check the lid's resting angle with the real box before ordering the run.
How you actually make it
- Open the structure above and type your real dimensions. The dieline is generated at that exact size and validated against real manufacturing limits as it draws — if a size cannot be folded, glued and shipped, it says so before you design anything on it.
- Describe your brand and the AI designs the artwork directly onto that dieline — not onto a picture of a package.
- Place your own logo, barcode and any required panel yourself. The AI leaves them exactly as placed unless you ask it to change them.
- Fold it in live 3D to check it, then download print-ready files to use with any printer — or have TWOFORM manufacture it.
Questions about custom jewelry boxes
What size box fits a ring?
Around 3 × 3 × 2in with a slotted insert is a comfortable presentation size. Smaller boxes exist but they leave no room for the pad and the reveal falls flat.
Magnetic or drawer box for jewelry?
Magnetic for the presentation moment, where the lid opening is the reveal. Drawer where the item is long or delicate and you do not want it dropping as the box opens.
Does a jewelry box need an insert?
Effectively yes. Without one the piece slides, tangles and scratches, and the box looks empty when it is opened — which undoes everything the box was for.
