Fat migration is what ends the shelf life
Treats are high in fat, and fat migrates into an ordinary film, greys the print from behind and turns rancid with oxygen. A barrier laminate is doing the work, not the printed layer. Settle the film structure against the fat content of the actual recipe before design, because it changes how the finish looks.

Adding a hang hole after the artwork is approved
A euro slot or a round hang hole is punched through the top seal band, and retrofitting one means either moving the whole design down or punching through it. If there is any chance of peg display, leave the band clear from the start — it takes nothing away and it keeps the option open.

- Open the structure above and type your real dimensions. The dieline is generated at that exact size and validated against real manufacturing limits as it draws — if a size cannot be folded, glued and shipped, it says so before you design anything on it.
- Describe your brand and the AI designs the artwork directly onto that dieline — not onto a picture of a package.

What size bag holds 8 oz of dog treats?
Around 5.5 × 8.5in with a 3in bottom gusset for a typical biscuit treat. Density varies a lot between soft treats and hard biscuits, so measure your own product's volume rather than working from weight.
Do pet treat bags need a barrier film?
Yes for anything with meat or fat in it. Oxygen turns the fat rancid and the fat itself migrates into a plain film, which discolours the pack from the inside.
Should the bag hang or stand?
Decide before designing. A hang hole lives in the top seal band, and a design that runs into that band cannot have one added later without moving everything.
