Custom Flour Bags

Flour is the opposite problem to rice: same weights, half the density, and a fine dust that lands on the seal jaw and ruins the closure. Volume and seal cleanliness are the whole job.

You already know what you are packaging, so there is nothing to set up. This opens the design engine with the quad seal structures on screen — then you type your own dimensions and the dieline is generated at that exact size.

The structures flour bags actually ship in

Every one of these is a construction TWOFORM generates a real production dieline for, at your own dimensions — not a template you have to fit your product into. Each opens the engine already on that package type.

Settle this before you design

Half the density means well over half again the volume

Flour runs about 0.53 g/ml against rice at 0.85, so a five-pound flour bag needs roughly 60% more space than a five-pound rice bag. Brands who reuse a bag size across a dry-goods range discover this at the filling line. Calculate litres per weight tier per product and let the answer set the bag, even when that means two sizes in one range.

The mistake that costs a print run

Ignoring dust in the seal band

Fine powder migrates onto the film exactly where the jaws close, and a contaminated seal fails somewhere between the filler and the shelf. The packaging decisions that help are a taller seal band and a bag that is not overfilled — but the design decision that matters is leaving that band clear, so nobody is tempted to trim it to make room for artwork.

How you actually make it

  1. Open the structure above and type your real dimensions. The dieline is generated at that exact size and validated against real manufacturing limits as it draws — if a size cannot be folded, glued and shipped, it says so before you design anything on it.
  2. Describe your brand and the AI designs the artwork directly onto that dieline — not onto a picture of a package.
  3. Place your own logo, barcode and any required panel yourself. The AI leaves them exactly as placed unless you ask it to change them.
  4. Fold it in live 3D to check it, then download print-ready files to use with any printer — or have TWOFORM manufacture it.

Questions about custom flour bags

Why is my flour bag bigger than my rice bag at the same weight?

Because flour is much less dense. At about 0.53 g/ml against rice at 0.85, the same declared weight takes up roughly 60% more volume, which is a visibly larger bag.

What causes flour bags to split at the bottom?

Usually a seal contaminated with powder rather than a weak film. Powder on the seal band during filling gives you a closure that looks fine and fails under load, so seal-band clearance and fill level matter more than film thickness alone.

Can I use a paper-look bag for flour?

Yes, as a printed outer appearance on a laminate that still carries a moisture barrier. Uncoated paper alone lets moisture in and flour is hygroscopic, so the barrier layer has to be there whatever the surface looks like.
