Custom Food Storage Bags
Long-term food storage bags are judged on one number: how much oxygen is left inside after sealing. Everything about the film, the fill and the seal serves that.
Skip the blank page
You already know what you are packaging, so there is nothing to set up. This opens the design engine with the no-gusset pouch structures on screen — then you type your own dimensions and the dieline is generated at that exact size.
The structures food storage bags actually ship in
Every one of these is a construction TWOFORM generates a real production dieline for, at your own dimensions — not a template you have to fit your product into. Each opens the engine already on that package type.
Settle this before you design
The seal band has to be clean film, and the absorber has to be sized to the headspace
A heat seal needs roughly half an inch of uncontaminated film across the top, and residual product dust in that band is the most common cause of a bag that fails months later. The oxygen absorber is sized against the air left in the bag, not against the weight of food, so measure your headspace and specify from that.
The mistake that costs a print run
Printing to the top edge
Artwork that runs into the seal band leaves ink under the seal, which is a weaker bond and an inconsistent one. Leave the top band clear by design, and put anything that has to be readable — contents, date, batch — well below it where a label can also be applied without covering it.
How you actually make it
- Open the structure above and type your real dimensions. The dieline is generated at that exact size and validated against real manufacturing limits as it draws — if a size cannot be folded, glued and shipped, it says so before you design anything on it.
- Describe your brand and the AI designs the artwork directly onto that dieline — not onto a picture of a package.
- Place your own logo, barcode and any required panel yourself. The AI leaves them exactly as placed unless you ask it to change them.
- Fold it in live 3D to check it, then download print-ready files to use with any printer — or have TWOFORM manufacture it.
Questions about custom food storage bags
How thick does a long-term storage bag need to be?
Thickness matters less than the barrier layer. A metallised or foil laminate at a moderate gauge outperforms a thick plain film every time, because it is oxygen transmission rather than puncture that ends the shelf life.
Where do I put the oxygen absorber?
In with the food, before the final seal, sized to the headspace volume rather than the food weight. Bags sealed with an undersized absorber look fine and quietly oxidise.
Can I reseal a storage bag after opening it?
You can heat-seal below the original seal if you left enough film, which is why storage bags are usually made taller than the fill needs. A zipper is more convenient but is not an oxygen barrier on its own.
