Settle this before you design
Three quarters of an inch is the floor on every axis
Below that, the creases tear on the folder-gluer and the carton cannot be made. A slim lipstick case is often close to that floor on two axes, so measure the case at its widest point including any collar and check the result is comfortably above the minimum before designing. If it is not, the answer is a rigid drawer, not a smaller carton.
The mistake that costs a print run
Building a shade range that needs a new dieline per shade
A range lives or dies on being able to add a shade quickly. Fix one carton size for the whole range, fix the position of the shade name, the barcode and the legal copy, and let only the colour and the name change. Ranges designed shade by shade need a full artwork cycle for every addition.

- Open the structure above and type your real dimensions. The dieline is generated at that exact size and validated against real manufacturing limits as it draws — if a size cannot be folded, glued and shipped, it says so before you design anything on it.
- Describe your brand and the AI designs the artwork directly onto that dieline — not onto a picture of a package.
- Place your own logo, barcode and any required panel yourself. The AI leaves them exactly as placed unless you ask it to change them.

Questions about custom lipstick boxes
How small can a lipstick carton be?
About three quarters of an inch on any side is the practical minimum for folded paperboard. A standard bullet case usually lands near 1 × 1 × 3.5in once clearance is added.
Where does the ingredient list go on a lipstick box?
On the back and side panels at final size, laid out before the front is designed. On a carton this small it is the constraint that decides whether the layout works.
Folding carton or rigid box for lipstick?
Folding for a shade range and volume; rigid for gifting and premium tiers, where the opening motion is part of what is being sold and where the footprint is below what board can fold.
